Hansan Mosi Cultural Festival will be taking place for 4 days from June 11 to 14 at the Hansan Mosi (Ramie Fabric) Museum in Seocheon-gun, Chungcheongnam Province.
One of the highlights of the festival is the Hansan Mosi Fashion Show, which features traditional and modern outfits made out of Mosi (Ramie Fabric). Other attractions include an apparel gallery, as well as an reenactment of Gilssam Nori, a traditional play that Koreans used to perform while taking a break from their long, hard work in the field. Visitors can join in the fun by participating in one of the festival’s experience programs, such as: Mosi Experience, Sogokju Experience, traditional liquor from Hansan Mosi) and Mosi Hanji (Korean paper) Craft Exhibition.
Skilled artisans guide visitors in the processing of the famed Hansan Ramie, demonstrating all the parts of the process: from how the plant is grown to how it’s spun into thread and used to make clothing. This year, as a new program, a shadow puppet show will be presented highlighting the tale of Sogokju (traditional liquor from Hansan Mosi) and Mosi.
In the Mosi House, where products made of Mosi are on display, and the Mosi Studio, where the replicas of Korean royal palace and European buildings are set up, visitors can have their picture taken wearing Mosi clothing.
